Timeline & Procedures
Below is a list of requirements that must be met in order to consider an applicant’s admissions file complete:
Age Eligibility
Fisher Island Day School maintains the State of Florida standards that a child must be 5 years old by September 1st of the year that he or she enters Kindergarten. This applies to every grade; students entering Early Learning must be 2 years old by September 1st of the year that they begin school.
Application
A completed Application for Admissions must be received by FIDS no later than January 15th in the school year preceding the child’s enrollment, along with a non-refundable application fee of $200.

Birth Certificate and Medical Forms
Please submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate or U.S. passport if your child is a U.S. citizen. If your child is a non-U.S. citizen, please submit a copy of his or her visa. These documents must be uploaded online with your application. All children—regardless of citizenship—must comply with the State of Florida’s requirement for health records and immunizations, and these must be submitted to the school no later than one week prior to your child’s enrollment.
School Records
Official school records must be submitted by the sending school to the FIDS Director of Admissions. Please send the Transcript and School Record Release form to your child’s current school for the release of all records, including all standardized test scores (when applicable). Instructions are provided on the online application. These records must be delivered directly from the current school; under no circumstances will records submitted by the parents be accepted. Please allow plenty of time for the school to complete this request.

Teacher Recommendation
For applicants to Kindergarten and older (age 5 by September 1st), we ask that your child’s current teacher complete the Teacher Recommendation form. Instructions are provided on the online application. Please allow plenty of time for the teacher to complete this request.
Interview
Upon receipt of a completed online application, you will receive a phone call to schedule an interview. The interview for applicants to the Early Learning and Pre-K programs consists largely of classroom observation, and parents will be invited to stay in the room.
Testing
In addition to the submission of standardized test scores, all newly applying children must be evaluated prior to admission by a FIDS teacher on-site. Requirements vary by age.
Letters of Notification
Decision letters will be mailed in the spring.
